Dr Josi Salem-Pickartz - Painting by Reham GhassibI am German/Jordanian clinical psychologist Dr. Josi Salem-Pickartz. I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the university of Bonn/Germany in 1983. I have been applying client-centered/humanistic psychotherapy since 1976.

In 1995, I specialized in stress and trauma management, and since 2015 I have been teaching TRE (Tension and Trauma Release Exercises) to numerous clients.

I have been working in Germany and Jordan. In addition to my own clinical work with people of all age groups, families and teams, I worked as a researcher and consultant for local governments and NGOs, as well as UN agencies and INGOs, especially in the area of family violence, child protection, and psychosocial support for refugees and humanitarian workers. I designed and conducted country-wide capacity building programs on behalf of international agencies in Armenia, Jordan, Iraq and Syria. I also taught for 8 years as a lecturer at Oldenburg University/Germany. I have numerous publications in the Intervention-International Journal of Mental Health, Psychosocial Work and Counselling in Areas of Armed Conflict.
